Malin Young Engineers

As an organisation, we support and actively encourage a love of science, technology, engineering and mathematics amongst the younger generation, through our Malin Young Engineers.

In response to the systemic lack of diversity within the engineering sector, we launched Malin Young Engineers, with a remit of engaging children from P1 to P7, to encourage them to take part in STEM activities. We are committed to engaging with children so that they may learn more on the opportunities within engineering generally and the marine sector specifically – and envisage a future within the sector.

Our support spans three interlinked areas, notably school visit, STEM resources and our annual festive competition. You can find more on each of these below.

STEM RESOURCES

We have a host of short brochures, each of which contain 4 safe, simple tasks to try in the classroom or at home.They have been designed to be fun, use items that are easily accessible, and each introduce some key engineering concepts to spark an interest in STEM.

School outreach

Our team of engineers are on hand to come and visit your school, to provide insight into engineering as a career - as well as the wider marine sector.We have a range of tasks that we can carry out with children, from primary 1 through to 7, introducing concepts such as stability, centre of gravity and buoyancy.

festive competition

Take part in our festive competition, to design a structure that will be built and displayed at our HQ in Glasgow.We will invite the winner and their full class to our premises to see the design turned into a model, 3D printed and then fabricated and painted to be displayed next Christmas.
