Our team consists of a group of experienced, yet diversely skilled individuals, spanning different technical, non-technical, sectoral and professional backgrounds. Skills displayed include CAD and 3D modelling, engineering, naval architecture, project management and consultancy.

Chris Dunn

Managing Director

Chris, a Chartered Engineer and a Member of the Royal Institute of Naval Architects, has over 25 years’ experience in the Shipbuilding and Offshore Wind sectors in the West of Scotland, gaining experience in many of the technical departments within the Upper Clyde shipyards during his 17 years with BAE Systems. In 2011 he moved from his position as Technical Project Manager at BAE to the Spanish wind turbine manufacturer Gamesa Offshore Wind where he helped develop the offshore turbine manufacture, transportation, assembly and logistics strategies for their offshore installations. He returned to shipbuilding as Chief Naval Architect at Ferguson Marine in 2014, leading the design department & drawing office and responsible for providing technical leadership and naval architectural support to the design, construction and repair of their marine vessels. Chris joined Malin Group in Feb 2020.

Jonathan Brown

Technical Director

Jonathan graduated from the University of Strathclyde with a Masters in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. During this time, he worked in a range of industries including defence, commercial, heavy lift, and oil and gas both in Scotland and China. Since, he has worked for BAE Systems on the Graduate Development Framework, gaining both design and commissioning experience. Following this, he joined Malin Group as a Technical Specialist – Naval Architect to work on developing Malin’s long term and concept projects. In 2020 he was selected as a Future Maritime Leader by the Global Maritime Forum.

Graduate Engineer

Amber joined Malin Group as a graduate engineer after completing university with a Master’s degree in Computer-Aided Mechanical Engineering. Her broad technical experience covers a range of engineering disciplines, which is combined with nine years of working directly with clients and customers. This mix of in-depth knowledge of engineering fundamentals, confidence and communication expertise make her a perfect fit for the Malin Consultants position. She is ambitious, curious, and creative with a passion for innovation and commitment to responsible engineering, reflected in her work at university, exploring new methods of manufacturing and methods of fully green fuel.
