get involved in our festive competition
Malin are passionate about supporting the next generation of young engineers – and this is the perfect time to get involved in our STEM activities with our festive competition for 2025!
We are asking you to design a bench, that can be used by members of Golden Friendships – a charity in Clydebank. Adults with additional support needs and older residents visit the charity every day, including an allotment – and they need a bench to rest, relax and catch up. And that is where you come in….can you design a bench that the members can use? What shapes can you use to make it strong but also nice for them to look at? What materials may you use and what size will it be? Will it be metal or painted? How easy will your design be to build and to maintain?
Simply sketch your design on an A4 sheet of paper, take a picture or scan and email to [email protected] by Friday 2nd January.
Once all entries are in, our team of engineers will pick their favourite submission with the winner announced by the end of January. And the prize?
- The lucky winner will get a Mini Lab 3d printer + filament or £150 Amazon vouchers (winner can choose)
Plus, the winner and their full class will be asked to work with our specialist team across 2026 to use the winning design to build a bench for local charity Golden Friendships.
We will work with you to concept design, model, fabricate and then deliver your piece in time for the next festive break – giving you hands on STEM experience!
We can’t wait to see your entries!
*The competition is open to all children who are in Primary classes one to seven inclusive.
AND IN THE MEANTIME...
We are delighted to offer our festive brochure, featuring a host of STEM activities, to keep the little ones entertained over the school holidays. From elf on a shelf, to gingerbread house structures, there is lots to stimulate their thirst for STEM – and keep them occupied.
