We are delighted to be partnering with Lloyd’s Register to host a half-day conference discussing the urgent need for stakeholders in all sectors to commit to building resilient and sustainable supply chains during international climate change summit COP26.
A panel of speakers from different stakeholder groups will debate and discuss why and how we need sustainable supply chains from their own perspectives – and agree actions that need to be taken now to facilitate meaningful change.
Panellists include leaders from NHS Oceans who will discuss the need to procure medical equipment and goods more sustainably as well as the ocean’s essential role in human health and wellbeing; Lloyd’s Register Foundation talking about ‘ocean citizenship’ and the High Level Climate Champions shipping lead emphasising the need for urgent collaboration and commitment to zero carbon shipping.
Hosted as part of the Malin Spotlight Series, located beside Glasgow’s iconic South Rotunda, 320 meters from the official COP summit blue and green zones, this action focused event will take place on Monday, the 8th of November.
Focusing on a range of salient, specialist themes related to shipping and the environment, the Malin Spotlight Series is a unique opportunity for the shipping industry and ocean focused delegates to meet in Glasgow during the international summit to discuss a range of issues related to the climate change challenge with a view to identifying and investigating innovative and sustainable solutions. Organisers hope up to 200 delegates will attend the event in person, and many more will join virtually so that as many voices as possible are able to drive forward best practice and shape the future of the industry.

“The ocean’s vast resources remain over-exploited and poorly understood. Ocean health continues to deteriorate as a result of climate change, pollution and poor resource management. Humanity’s essential relationship with the ocean is under increasing pressure and careful stewardship is needed to manage ocean resources safely and sustainably.
Major change is needed in the way we treat the ocean and we all have a role to play. Both public and private sector organisations will be key stakeholders in the healthy future of the ocean and should work together to improve stewardship for the safer and more sustainable use of the ocean.
