Ben Potter will take on the role of Technical Director and Robbie Gorman will take on the role of Operations Director at Malin Newbuild, the dedicated business unit within the Malin Group, focused on the fabrication and outfit of complex marine equipment and vessels to client specifications.

The appointments come on the heels of unprecedented growth for the organisation over the past 2 years, with a growing facility and diversified capability offering in Renfrew. With a combined 40 years’ experience on internationally recognised projects, the duo will oversee the Newbuild business unit with a focus on attracting new, large-scale scopes – akin to their recent project with Balfour Beatty for Hinkley Point, which welcomed large jacket structures back to the west coast after a decade’s hiatus.

Commenting on the appointments, Ben Sharples, Director of the Malin Group, said:

“Ben and Robbie are absolute authorities in their fields. Each bring unrivalled expertise and understanding in the delivery of complex engineering projects and both appointments represent a real major step-up in capability for the Malin Group at a time of exciting innovation and growth.

“I know first-hand that each bring a rigorous systems-engineering approach together with a pragmatic, problem-solving attitude – which they combine with proven expertise.

“I am delighted to welcome them to our growing team and look forward to working with them to further diversify and build our project portfolio.
