As Group HR Manager at Malin, no two days are ever the same.  It is an exciting and dynamic place to work, where we pride ourselves on being innovative and progressive whilst utilising our expertise on a variety of interesting scopes, across the maritime industry. To achieve this our main asset is our people and my time is spent ensuring that we have the right processes and procedures in place to support the variety of specialisms and skillsets that can be seen across the Malin Group – from naval architects and structural engineers, to welders and graphic designers, we have a diverse, interesting range.  Working with management at all levels is key to ensuring that the correct frameworks are in place to assist our people in being the best they can be whilst developing their skills and talents.

We also support and promote flexible working at all levels including my own HR role which is now part-time – which really helps with work-life balance.  I enjoy speaking with staff and ensuring that we achieve cross functional working where possible, sharing best practice and pushing the boundaries with new technologies and progressive solutions. Ensuring that we attract and retain key talent to support our clients is critical, whilst also managing the full employee lifecycle from onboarding and beyond – all essential to ensure our people have a fantastic Malin Experience!

Of course, HR also has responsibility for the central HR System, employment, succession planning, training, performance – to name just a few – however the key is being able to adapt quickly and efficiently when the business needs to change direction due to the many challenging and interesting projects that we cover.   Based in the iconic South Rotunda at the River Clyde my HR role is undoubtedly one of the best in the city and I am proud to be a part of such a fantastic team of people.
